One of the best things I did in Cambodia was to take a couple of lessons here per week. Over the year I came to be able to understand and communicate in Khmer, and even read and write it! But more than the language, it was the deep cross-cultural connections with the people that it allowed me to make. I am so grateful to Khmer Friends!

Khmer friends gave me a teacher that was not competent to answer the more technical questions, and also had a very nasally voice that made it difficult to hear the differences in some of the sounds. In here written phonetics she wrote words incorrectly that made it impossible to link back to the Khmer alphabet. The initial stages you can do by yourself with a translator and some discipline. The teacher does not add much value. I pointed this out to Admin immediately and asked for credit for the classes. She did not want to give me credit. But agreed to carry it over for one month. I have terminated my relationship with this company because they were not able to give me the flexibility that I need. I would recommend that you ask for an initial class before you pay the $20 deposit and then pay money for all the books. Make sure that you are happy with their style before you commit

I would highly recommend taking language lessons with Khmer Friends. My tutor, Chantha, was very professional and effective in his instruction. I took two hours of lessons a week using Skype since i was several hours away from Phnom Penh. I am deeply grateful for the wonderful lessons and tutoring that Khmer Friends provides.

I loved their flexibility. Khmer Friends are very flexible, I remember there was a time I had a very crazy work schedule and they helped to work around it and still get the best out of the Khmer classes. What’s more, my tutor, Chantrea, she was very keen on pronunciation which has really has gone a long way in improving my Khmer and my confidence in communicating in Khmer.
